To the tune of "Big Iron" By Marty Robbins
To the town of Scottsdale Phoenix rode a stranger one fine day
Hardly talked to folks around him, he was looking for The Gay
No one dared to ask his business, no one dared to make a slip
For the stranger had been sent there on a bigot minded trip
Bigot Minded Trip!
It was early in the morning when he rode in to the town
He came sporting "family values" as he slowly looked around
No one dared to hoist a rainbow, no one stood with hand on hip
For the stranger had been sent there on a bigot minded trip
Bigot Minded Trip!
In this town there were two snowbirds by the name of Joe and Fred
They had dreamed of getting married, before they both were dead
They had flown in from Chicago, where the blizzards often strike
They had come to play some tennis, and to maybe ride a bike
Maybe ride a bike.
Now the stranger started talking, made it plain to folks around
Was an Arizona lawman, and he knew what’s going down
He had come to stop the sinning, as his good Book truly said
And the sinners he was after had the names of Joe and Fred
Names of Joe and Fred
Wasn’t long before he found them, getting treatments at the spa
They were holding hands in public, in violation of the law!
Back home it seemed so normal, but out here it was a slip
Cause these Arizona lawmen were on a bigot minded trip
Bigot Minded Trip!
The morning passed so quickly, and the heat was getting grim
Joe and Fred had finished tennis, so they went to take a swim
If their suits were too revealing might the Lord just strike them dead?
No. they both wore extra layers so their skin would not turn red
Their skin would not turn red
There was forty feet between them when the lawman made his play
Stand up for Christian freedom, they were obviously gay!
Though the men did not wear leather, their attitude was flip
And the Arizona lawmen were on a bigot minded trip
Bigot Minded Trip
It was over in a moment, and the folks all stopped and looked
Fred and Joe repacked the suitcase, the trip had been rebooked
Oh they might have spent a bundle, but the state had made a slip
When they tried to outlaw love on their bigot minded trip
Bigot Minded Trip!
