I had to laugh at all the righteous indignation from Obama and Biden and all the other govt. officials to the use of force against Ukrainian protestors. All the lecturing from U.S. officials to the Ukrainian president on how this is not the way you treat peaceful dissent!
It makes you wonder, where was all this indignation when our own peaceful protests of the Occupy movement were being crushed?? Where was the outrage when those women were being maced on the streets of New York? Where was the lecturing when peaceful U.c. Davis students were being maced as they were sitting down? Gosh, I never heard a peep back then..
Oh, but you can't compare the U.S. reaction to protests to the Ukrainian reaction. I mean they were using the military to shoot and kill people. You can't compare that to a little mace! We would never use our military to crush dissent in this country. Well....not so fast my friend, as Lee Corso woud say on College Game Day. Follow me over the orange barricade......
An E-mail was discovered through a freedom of information act request by Olympia, Washington based activists, that show a military undercover agent illegally targeted Olympia anti-war protestors for their political beliefs. This Truth-out story chronicles the amazing lengths that the military will go to infiltrate and crush our first amendment rightshttp://www.truth-out.org/...
An excerpt from this excellent article goes on to say....
"The latest revelations show how the army not only engaged in illegal spying on poli9ltical dissidents, it led the charge and tried to expand the counter-intelligence network targeting leftists and anarchists......By targeting activists without probable cause, based on their ideology and perceived political threat they represent, the army clearly lbroke the law and must be held accountable."
It is an excellent article and well worth the read. But then again, it has been well documented for years from the J. Edgar Hoover years forward, that the FBI, the CIA and military are more concerned about controlling their own citizens then they are about any foreign power.
So please , the next time a foreign government crushes political dissent, can we dispense with all the faux outrage from our leaders??!! Instead of denouncing these brutal leaders, how about we show with actions instead of words how a real democratic government is supposed to act..
