"The Mississippi House of Representatives Civil Subcommittee late Wednesday voted to strike provisions of a so-called “religious freedom” bill that the ACLU and other legal experts said invites widespread discrimination, especially against gay, lesbian and trans-gender people."
The bill which had passed the Senate was masquerading as a bill to add "In God We Trust" to the State Seal. In actuality, it was a duplicate of the AZ bill with an amendment about the addition to the Seal.
I haven't seen the final language after the supposed stripping of the offending portions, but hope to be able to get that tomorrow. I will not be convinced that they fixed it until I see for myself.
Democratic Senators who voted for its passage last month admit they did not realize the bill's implications.
