Yup. That's right. I can't afford insurance. When you can't work most jobs in your area due to your disabilities and any job you could do has been shipped overseas and companies or public offices make transfers the first priority so they don't have to hire anyone new.
I get most of my care from the local health department, which thankfully I don't pay much out of pocket for because it's based on sliding scale. Other things like lifts for my shoes and my AFO are covered by Voc Rehab.
If there are things to help unemployed and disabled people out there, I sure as hell don't know about them. But this is Florida, after all, and anyone who lives here knows the people down here love to see us fall through the cracks, as I have so many times in my life.
Before I end this diary, I just want to say I'm not against the Affordable Care Act, but living in a state with a government refuses to help its downtrodden people in compliance with it doesn't make things any easier.
