I saw this on a yahoo post...Not really sure if it was sent in jest or as serious commentary. It brings to mind Randy Newman (It's certainly his style!) and his satirical style of songwriting...yet also has some discussion points. After all, in many ways bigotry relies on being "happy" at the expense of others, in spite of the hypocrisy in living that kind of life.
I'm certainly not the author of this ditty, and I certainly don't espouse bigotry in any form...but it's a catchy read.
And this may be offensive...feel free to read something else, you've been forewarned!
I am a happy bigot, my head is up my @$$,
It creates a minor problem when I have to pass some gas.
I'm lacking in intelligence; I have a tiny brain.
Reasoning and thinking always seem to cause me pain.
I go to church on Sunday, where they teach me how to hate
All the gays in our community, who make us so irate.
We hate them 'cause they're different; we think they have no rights.
We think their sinful marriages are antisocial blights.
Our youngest son astounded us when he announced he's gay.
We told him that we loved him; then we had him sent away.
It's in our blood to hate the blacks and to hate the Jews,
There's no other rationality that we could ever choose.
By nature I'm a coward, or I would join the clan.
But my arsenal of weapons makes me feel more like a man.
We're narrow-minded hypocrites who hope to take a stand
By passing laws against the gays to have their freedoms banned.
I am a happy bigot, my head is up my @$$,
Now isn't it a pity that my kind's devoid of class?
