So.... when it's crunch time 8 months before a tough election, even the Dems have to break out the old Dog whistle..
"The Senate Decides Being A Lawyer Disqualifies You From Holding A Legal Post".
This is more of a rant than a diary, so forgiveness is begged in advance.
As I read the reasons why 55 democratic senators, having removed the filibuster from the equation, cannot approve a highly qualified individual for the Justice Department's Civil Rights division, i got a very sick feeling in my stomach.
And you will forgive - again - the hyperventilation on this one vote, but Occam's Razor jumped right in front of me this morning. It really does sound like an election year Dog Whistle of the highest order.
When I hear the "reasons" that Debo Adegbile was not qualified to be a part of the justice department in the Civil Rights Division, it feels somehow familiar. Oh yeah, just like....
We need strict voted i.d. to ensure that there is no voter fraud.
We need to close the urban polling places to ensure uniformity across our state
or... Stop and Frisk is a completely race-neutral exercise...
When you possibly have the chance to meet any of these 7 Senators, you have my strong support to say to each of them "Ma'am / Sir - you have absolutely No Honor".
And since that is the equivalent of accusing 75% of siting Senators of having to breathe oxygen, use the only language that matters to them. When the DSCC calls looking for money let them know why you are closing with....
Not a flippin' Nickel after that vote.
