I never thought I'd see the day when a black man was so good at and so comfortable with using Southern Strategy code words and dog whistles that appeal to so many "conservatives." Enter Dr. Ben Carson.
The famed, but increasingly infamous and unhinged, retired neurosurgeon spoke in Martin County, Fla. Monday, March 3 and fed the largely conservative audience plenty of "red meat" and hinted that he might run for president.
In her article published on TCPalm.Com (http://www.tcpalm.com/...), columnist Eve Samples wrote that when Carson was asked if he's running for president, he responded: “Our nation is gradually being taken away from us. I don’t have political aspirations per se. You never quite know what the future holds.”
To me that translates to: "If I can scare enough white people into voting for me and Hannity or O'Reilly call, I'll come a'runnin!"
Here are a few more quotes from Carson's speaking engagement as reported by Samples:
During his 40-minute talk, he:
• Said there was “a plot” to attack family values in an effort to weaken the United States.
• Warned the audience that our country “could become a third-world nation overnight” if the U.S. dollar loses its position as the dominant global currency.
• Called for the expansion of school vouchers, particularly in inner cities.
• Said the country’s progressive movement was “happy to pat people on the head and say, ‘There there, you poor little person, I’m going to take care of you.’ ”
Carson sounds like a man itching to run for president carrying a lot of conservative banners. He's obviously putting out feelers while trying his best to curry favor with the anti-government, anti-immigrant, anti-poor people, anti-minority, anti-science, pro family values crowd...and to see if he's their kind of "Negro," like Herman Cain was during the last presidential election cycle.
Here we go again.
