Developments in the Oscar Pistorius trial are interesting, in what the reveal about "gun culture" without borders. FAT (Frequently Asserted Trolling) on GunFAIL, including the accidents versus negligence controversy, and what to say to the swimming pool trope. Other topics: Issa vs. Cummings; "Disarmed: How Cities Are Losing the Power to Regulate Guns"; Paul Ryan, brown bag lunches, and poverty tautologies; wacko Alaskan Republican tut-tuts sex havers; McConnell strains under the weight of a rifle; that Oscar "selfie"; and is all this Bitcoin theft a sign that the time is right for Operation Privateers of the Caribbean?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    1) I don't believe I accused you of wanting to ban guns.
    2) The President is (or rather, was) talking about banning guns.
    Assault Weapons BAN.
I can only assume you are opposed to the AWB, as it is intended to 'ban guns'.
    3) Don't you find it rather odd that you claim "I don't want to ban guns" while pointing out the ban of lawn darts & a mocking and dismissive statement about the 2nd Amendment?

Why do you leave out the injuries by guns?
Because injuries by guns can be anything from a superficial burn from a hot barrel to paralyzation and brain damage.
Similarly injuries from bicycles can be anything from a skinned knee to paralyzation and brain damage.
However, death rates are far more easily comparable.
    Accidental deaths from firearms: 600
    Accidental deaths from bicycles:  677

    But just for you, Dave:
ER visits from bicycle accidents: 515,000
That is nearly half a million more injuries from accidents from bicycles than from accidental injury from firearms.
    Add it up....

As for arming teachers, security guards etc. in schools, it's not an issue for me.
I think that it is an overreaction to an extraordinarily rare occurrence. That said, I do think it should be left up to the individual school district.
After all, I can only assume that you don't think a police officer should be barred from school grounds.

    "say the same stupid thing"
You mean the quote from the CDC report commissioned by President Obama?
"Unintentional firearm-related deaths have steadily declined during the past century. The number of unintentional deaths due to firearm-related incidents accounted for less than 1 percent of all unintentional fatalities in 2010 (Hoyert and Xu, 2012)."
I do have the tendency to present fact to deliberately misleading anecdote.
I find facts to be a particularly effective antidote to such fear-mongering tactics.
"You can't talk about that [allegedly said by me]"
Never said that. I have said that GunFAIL is deliberately misleading fear-mongering anecdote. Primarily because that is exactly what it is.
Quick Hint: You may find conversation a bit easier if you respond to things I actually say.
Don't worry, I'll even write it down for you.
    Crying about it
Yes, that explains why I am talking about you on DKos radio.
    Gosh, how embarrassing....and.....ya know....TOTALLY self-aware.
You really got me there, Tiger.
"we can't compare causes of accidental death because you can't stop a bad pool from a good pool"
    I can't argue with that.
    Well played, worthy adversary.
