I just want to set the record straight, I've been in office since 2011.  Got elected in 2010 with 58% of the votes and in 2012 with 57% of the votes.  I know this Brian Dempsey guy, whoever he is, thinks he's going to take away my drive but he's not.  I think the good residents of NV-02 think I'm kicking ass and taking names and that's my cue for continuing to represent them.  I voted to defund Obamacare and that's exactly what the residents wanted me to do.  That's action!
Since representing Nevada's 2nd Congressional District (which includes Carson City and Reno), Rep. Mark Amodei has comfortably cruised to being elected and re-elected by getting no lower than 57% of the votes in each election.

However, Democratic Candidate in 2014, Brian Dempsey, is determined to unseat Rep. Amodei for good, even while his race in comparison with most in the country is considerably low profile.

If you live in Carson City, Reno or anywhere in NV-02 and want to meet Dempsey and learn more about his candidacy, this evening at the Dayton Valley Branch Library Dempsey will be speaking.  Details of event are as follows:

Additional Details:  The Comstock Democrats group is expected to be at the event tonight which is being held at the following address:

Dayton Valley Branch Library
321 Old Dayton Valley Road
Dayton, NV. 89403

Here's some information on Brian Dempsey from a recent Press Release:

Gardnerville resident Brian Dempsey filed with the Nevada Secretary of State today as a Democratic candidate for the 2nd Congressional District.

“Today I made if official," said Dempsey, "but I've been on this road, literally, for almost a year now. I've traveled hundreds of miles at a stretch, sometimes to meet with groups as small as three or four, so I could reach out to the citizens of this district - young and old, men and women; employed and unemployed, in retirement and in training - to listen to their concerns and hear them talk about their hopes and dreams. This has given me a first-hand, first-person understanding of what the citizens of this district are going through, and what they expect from their Representative in Washington.”

More from what Dempsey has mentioned in Press Release:

Dempsey believes the electorate knows exactly what it wants. “Regardless of party affiliation," said Dempsey, "the voters I've talked to want all the same things I do: more jobs, better education, respect and fairness for all - including immigrants - and a health care system that will be affordable for the taxpayers in decades to come."

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
