Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senate candidate Dave Domina (D. NE) regarding the potential merger between cable giants Comcast and Time Warner Cable:
Lack of competition squeezes consumers. It means fewer services at a higher price with poor customer service. Don’t believe me? Think about your cable and ISP choices and how the costs have skyrocketed right here in Nebraska.
It’s only going to get worse with the “mega-merger” between Comcast and Time Warner. Sign our petition urging the FCC and DOJ to stop the merger!

This is a no good, bad deal for Nebraska consumers — it diminishes choices in the market place and will hurt consumers with higher prices. And we can be certain the merger will produce “efficiencies” and reduce jobs, too. The merger violates basic economic tests; it makes the market dangerously monopolistic. This is not free enterprise; it is monopolization!
If allowed, this deal would give Comcast a stranglehold over an industry that already gives us few options and high prices. This merger will mean more stress on costs to attend school, start or operate a small business, or watch a movie on Netflix.
There is time to object. The FCC and DOJ have to approve the Comcast-Time Warner merger before it goes through.
I object to this merger and you should too. We need MORE businesses bringing goods and services to market, not fewer. So, we need to make sure our voices are heard!
You deserve more competition, not less. Petition to stop the merger! Add your name today >>

Monopolies like this are fundamentally anti-American — they are not free enterprise in a fair market. The merger-mania that has hurt America so much has to be stopped.
Join me. Object to the proposed Comcast-Time Warner merger. Make our voices heard. We can hold down prices, save jobs, and protect our choices. Sign our Petition. Together, we can get this stopped!
Thank you,
Dave Domina
