Recently, Democratic congressional candidate Aaron Woolf launched his online and social media presence with a
new website, in addition to
Facebook and
Twitter pages.
Woolf, a small business owner and documentary filmmaker, is the endorsed Democratic candidate in New York's sprawling 21st Congressional District, which spans 16,500 square miles across most of the state's North Country, Adirondack and Upper Hudson Valley regions. Woolf splits his time between Elizabethtown in Essex County and Brooklyn, where he owns a organic deli and market, Urban Rustic Market & Cafe. Woolf gained national recognition in 2007 as the producer and director of the award winning documentary film King Corn, which exposed the industrialization of the American farming industry.
Aaron Woolf released the following statement on his website, expressing his commitment to improving the economy, eduction and infrastructure throughout New York's North Country region:
"The North Country is a great place to live, work, raise a family, and retire - but we need to make sure it stays that way for future generations. I'm committed to ensuring our kids have access to a quality education, and I'll work to improve and enhance our region's infrastructure so our local businesses can grow and our economy can thrive. I hope you'll join me."
With the retirement of three-term Democratic Congressman Bill Owens, who was elected in a 2009 special election, the 21st Congressional District is quickly shaping up to be one of the most competitive races in the nation. Republican leaders have mostly coalesced behind the candidacy of Elise Stefanik (R), a former Bush Administration aide who performed a stint as communications director for the neo-conservative Foreign Policy Initiative think tank in Washington D.C. However, with the recent entry of wealthy venture capitalist Matt Doheny (R), who narrowly lost to Owens in 2010 and 2012, Woolf's electoral chances have dramatically increased with Doheny likely to spend millions of dollars of his personal fortune trying to defeat Stefanik in the upcoming Republican primary. Even if Doheny looses the primary,
he is almost guaranteed a spot on the Independence Party line in the general election and may even have the support of the Conservative Party as well, which could very well lead to another Doug Hoffman-style split amongst the right-leaning vote within the district.
This is a very winnable race and you can help now by showing Aaron your support by contributing to his campaign.
