Republican efforts to reach out to women always work out super well.
Republicans are launching
yet another PAC aimed at the ladies. RedState Women "will offer web-based videos featuring both elected officials and voters that are designed to show that Democrats don’t have a monopoly on women in politics, according to the PAC’s executive director, Cari Christman." So you might see the Texas railroad commissioner, a Republican woman, talking about her upbringing in a "normal middle-class family" and her "strong-willed" two-year-old daughter, and—boom—become a Republican voter just like that, because who can resist that kind of outreach?
RedState Women appears to be founded on the same basic formula as most of the other recent Republican efforts to reach out to women. Namely, "let's talk about something other than forced ultrasounds, shall we?" Which would be a lot easier if their party didn't keep passing forced ultrasound laws. But really:
“It’s not just about, are you pro-life or pro-choice,” [RedState Women's executive director] said. “It’s a lot more than that. Women have a wide range of interests. We want to make sure we reach them.”
And as long as women's interests aren't in raising the minimum wage, extending emergency unemployment aid, paid sick leave, paid family leave, stronger job protections during pregnancy, or paycheck fairness, RedState Women might just have the ticket. Don't you just love how they keep trying to change the subject from abortion, while not actually having any viable policy areas to change the subject
to?
