Below is an Alliance for Retired Americans video featuring long-term care expert and registered Republican Margaret Niederer explaining why she feels strongly that GOP front-runner and millionaire Bruce Rauner is "wrong for seniors and wrong for the state of Illinois." She is one of many seniors and Illinois residents who hope that Rauner doesn't make it out as the GOP primary pick tomorrow.

Niederer doesn't buy Rauner's defense that he did not know what was happening at his company. She has encountered many nursing home organizations who manage to shift blame and ultimately avoid taking accountability for their actions. Niederer also noted that a couple proven instances of abuse and neglect usually indicate many more. If this is the way that Rauner's business works, Niederer does not feel his plan to run the state of Illinois like his business is a good one.

The theme of profit over people plays out time and again. It will be a problem if Rauner wins this primary and even ends up in the Illinois Governor's seat. Corporate interests and the bottom line at any cost must not take precedence over the people of Illinois.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Rauner is the worst thing that could happen to us (3+ / 0-)

I look north and see that that bowl-less turd has done to that fine state, and I shiver. Rauner would do far more damage.

The problem is we don't want an amateur running our state. But, some of the dirty linen that has emerged has made people angry. So their hunger for change is understandable.

But being a politician is a hard job. It is a profession, and there are some who are very very good at it. It is not just luck or circumstance.  I look at Dick Durbin and see a politician's politician. He is smart, polite, hard nosed when necessary, and able to talk to anyone, including his sworn political enemies.

Rauner would be trying to apply his vulture financing practices to running a large, complex state. They are two very different tasks and require very different skill sets. Rauner is a greedy, lying, money grubbing backstabber, and only that last skill is something that most GOP pols have in common.

Just to try to make sure he loses, I may switch sides for tomorrow's election.

What we call god is merely a living creature with superior technology & understanding. If their fragile egos demand prayer, they lose that superiority.

...on a regular basis, the thought of Bruce Rauner being anywhere near our state's governor's mansion is downright frightening. Rauner is corrupt, greedy, lying, dishonest, and a threat to democracy in Illinois.

...this ad should run regularly between Wednesday and November.

"Mitt" Rauner is likely to win the GOP primary tomorrow because Kirk Dillard, Dan Rutherford and the other guy are has beens/never weres.

Gov. Quinn had better start fighting as soon as the polls close tomorrow night and never let up.
