Soooo, I had the brilliant idea (not) to have a meetup the day before St. Pat's. Which also happened to be a Sunday, and the day of a heavily-promoted half-marathon here. This meant that by noon, every living person in NYC wanted BRUNCH, all at the same time. Including NYC Kossacks both senior and newbie, Front Pagers and lurkers! Our little hideaway was jumping!

Evidence below the mac'n'cheese - in fact,

below the truffle mac'n'cheese!
(Warning - many photos below!!)

And now for the part you've really been waiting for: food pr0n!!

menu board

no, we didn't try all those things - bowl of pickles for brunch?
but we did try these things...

beverages

must start with a mimosa – and some coffee to balance it out.
eggs
a country breakfast and a glass of stout – what could be more appropriate for the day before St. Pat’s?
sidnoras lunch I think">
This tasted way better than it looks (I know, because I ate it): perfect poached eggs over sautéed asparagus and wild mushrooms, hollandaise on the side. Spitzer’s version of diet food, lol.
There were omelets,

avocado omelet

 both avocado
omelet
and mysterious (but yummy-looking)
burgers,

veggie cheeseburger

both veggie (with cheese!)
lamb burger
and lamb...mmm!
fries
and of course, no Spitzer’s photo diary would be complete without ‘em.
Photo credits: belinda ridgewood, joanbrooker, Denise Oliver Velez. Thanks to them all, and everyone else who showed up and made this event a roaring success!!

We had a ball - a noisy ball, but a ball! Next time, why not join us?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
