Ha, I say!
The Koch brothers are slated to spend upwards of ten mil in an attempt to unseat Louisiana senator Mary Landrieu this fall. Sadly, I believe they've just been outbid.
Landrieu is one of nine US lawmakers and staffers who were banned from traveling to the rodina yesterday in diplo tit-for-tat for increased US sanctions on Russia. The senator was singled out presumably for her protests of Russia's episodic restrictions of natural gas flow to Europe, as well as her efforts to assist international adoptions of Russian orphans.
While the Russian zapret is unlikely to sway the state's most rabid conservative voters, it will surely cause a few cases of cognitive dissonance among them.
Asked for her reaction, Landrieu called the ban a "badge of honor."
I imagine that, under her breath, she was telling Vlad bol'shoye spasibo.
