Received an e-mail today from Charlie Crist's (D. FL) campaign that reveals his new campaign slogan and I like it:
I'm running for governor for one simple reason: What we have today in Tallahassee isn't working.

Governing for the people has been replaced with cronyism and government on the fringes. Financial bullies and special interests have drowned out the voices of people like you.

You deserve a governor who wakes up every single day thinking about you -- someone who cares about the middle class, and who understands your problems.

I will be your advocate. I'll fight for better schools, affordable health care, our environment, and our seniors.

My slogan, "The People's Governor," isn't just a phrase on a bumper sticker. I take that seriously. I'll run for office and govern with common sense, honesty, a commitment to bipartisanship, and with a firm belief that the people are the boss.

I'm counting on you to take charge. Add your name to join the People's Team today:

It's an honor and a privilege to have you on our side.

God bless you,

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Charlie Crist was a good Governor (10+ / 0-)

Charlie Crist was a good Governor when he was a Republican.  I think he'd be awesome as a Democrat!

I'm not sure if it's been the Rove/Bush or Koch people who are behind the anti-Crist ads that have been running for a year.

Those ads are not really designed to change anyone's mind, to make them choose a different Democrat.  They're designed to fire up the Republican voters, and get them to the polls.

Don't forget, AND REMIND EVERY FLORIDIAN, if you are not registered to vote by the end of July, you cannot vote in the Florida Primaries.

You must be registered to vote 29 days before an election in Florida.  Why?  Because they don't want you to vote.

Get everyone in Florida registered to vote.

Scott.   People generally liked Crist and he is IMO the best candidate.   When a person puts themselves out there like this under a democratic banner is admirable because he was a good governor under the R side... The Dem platform is excellent.

ads for Scott.  He's running his "I really like poor people" ad.  It's not even April yet for Crist's sake.  I told my husband even the people who would tend to vote for him will be sick to death of his ads by November.

  •  Are you joking? (0+ / 0-)

Charlie Christ is at best a sort of sane Republican. How sad that the Democratic Party can not offer Floridian's anything better the this turncoat. Guess it's better then the parade of fools Florida consistently spits out  and expects the rest of the country to accept, or is it? A semi sane Republican who now is a Democrat?  Gimme a break.

Come on this may be the best the Dems. can do in crazy  Florida or is it? Allen Grayson? Tell me again why Charlie Christ rocks. Does he dig the common good or maybe he thinks austerity for the people is a real drag but hey it's Axelrod's 'the world as we find it' according to the current Democratic Party leadership. Debbie Wasserman Shultz (what kill list) thinks he's appropriate

Charlie's okay let's pump him up get him elected. From coast to coast we Democrat's all should embrace these Republicans who are now Dems  We need to cheer for Charlie, a pathetic Republican who crossed over to the Dems cause he wasn't quite nuts enough to be a Repug. All hail Charlie he just might be better then Jeb or even Debbie our fearless, Democratic DNC leader. who thinks from way back that the R's are good people and we should accommodate them."What kill list", Debbie.

We really need to get these R%pug/ Dems elected cause God know the RW would be worse. Who knows who the right wing is anymore where is the line drawn , We the people apparently all lean right other then the purist far lefties.

Go Christie! Oh no's go Charlie your not a fat slob crooked machine Repug. Your ab bright new slimy corporatist machine Dem who needs support.

and well-liked for his consideration of the working people in this state as he is a caring "people person".

Voters have converted to the Democratic party from having considered themselves moderate Republicans or have voted for some moderate Republicans in the past.

Why all of the animosity?  Sometimes converts can be the best advocates as in Charlie boldly stating that 6 Floridian's die each day from our not taking our federal tax dollars to expand Medicaid in Florida.  He sounds more like Alan Grayson than any other Democrat in these parts.

he has had a track record in two areas that Florida desperately needs right now. Crist has been supportive of strong public education because he comes from a family of educators and Crist is keenly aware of Florida's fragile environment because he is a native Floridian who understands just how fragile the ecosystems are here in Florida.

Florida is in a terrible crisis in many areas due to the Tea Party legislature and Rick Scott, but the single greatest threat to Florida right now is the one to its environment. Under Rick Scott's leadership, the legislature gutted the long standing growth management law and water quality regulations.   There will be a push to allow off shore drilling in the future. Also the legislature has voted to allow fracking in Florida and there have been exploratory wells driven in the Everglades.

Water is a very  precious and scarce resource in much of Florida, particularly in south Florida.  Already many of Florida's beautiful natural springs have dried up or have been polluted due to groundwater depletion.

Charlie Crist has long been against off shore drilling and has been in favor of environmental protections of Florida's natural resources. It pains me to vote for Crist, but at this point Florida's natural environment cannot survive another Rick Scott term.

So I saw ads are now playing on local Tallahassee TV - I did not bother to watch altho I did see its bald head at the end as it tried to smile. Don't care how many millions (100?) they spend, the asshole is still a creep, a dirty incompetent lying thieving carpet-bagging creep.

any pro-environment measures. Early in his term he floated a proposal to turn the state parks into golf courses. And he wanted to put billboards on th Florida (hiking) Trail.
Florida's distinctive environment is all it has to offer. Other than that, it's just Hot Ohio.

even though he's an opportunistic holder of fingers to the wind who seems to have no principles of his own. And if you think he accomplished nothing but fighting with the state legislature when he was gov before, wait till this time . . . . We'll get nothing but gridlock and head-butting.

But then, I'd vote for Caligula's Horse over Rick Scott.  (shrug)

    •  I am wondering how he's (0+ / 0-)

going to get the Medicaid expansion passed with the "sold-out" legislature in Tally.  At least this time he will have his party behind him (instead of the GOP ostracizing him at the end of his last term)

Democratic voters need to stop yakking about his party switch and get to the polls and bring all of their friends and vote the entire Democratic ticket.  Floridians need to start making waves to support him.  I get frustrated when outsiders demonize him as he's actually a really concerned local St.Pete native that still lives in the same neighborhood and he is no Alex Sink and will wrap up our District 13.  We can't afford to be complacent.
