I was delighted today to see that Logan Township Mayor Frank Minor has filed to run in the Democratic Primary against machine-backed Donald Norcross in NJ-01. He doesn't have a campaign website up yet, but he is a legitimate candidate who can take the fight to the Norcross machine that's controlled South Jersey for decades. This is where the "better" comes in when we say we support more and better Democrats.
Minor is a serious underdog in this solidly blue seat, especially with just over two months to go until the primary. I would ask all New Jersey progressives, particularly those who live in South Jersey, to devote some effort to Minor's campaign. We need to show George Norcross III that New Jersey is not his personal playground.
I wish I had more time right now to explain the background of this election, which opened up upon Rep. Rob Andrew's retirement, but I encourage anyone interested to read up on George Norcross' influence over South Jersey and his brother Donald's quick rise through NJ politics.
