Glacier National Park is open for camping during the entire year. However, during most of the year, the “regular” campgrounds are closed. On the west side of the park, the Apgar Picnic area is open for off-season camping. There are some here who may recall that the picnic area is where we held an EPIC Glacier Park Meet-Up last year.
For our first Glacier Park camping trip of 2014, we parked at the same site used for last year’s meet-up. It looks a bit different in March than it does in June. First of all, there was lots of snow on the ground and the road was a bit icy in places. When we went to put the leveling blocks under the rear duals of the motorhome, we couldn’t do it because of the ice—the tires spun with no traction.
We spent a beautiful day, reading, watching the snow come down, and more reading. It was relaxing, quiet, and, did I mention, relaxing. We woke the next morning to see a couple of inches of fresh snow on the ground and snow coming down in big flakes.
Shown below are some of the photos from the trip to Glacier.
Shown above is the frozen lake with snow coming down.
As seen in the outside mirror shown above, we woke up to find a couple of inches of fresh snow had fallen during the night.
Welcome to Saturday on Street Prophets. This is an open thread where we talk about what we’ve been doing, reading, thinking about, talking about, and seeing.
Finally, what’s for dinner?
