It's a one-two punch to the collective gut of the Freeperati as first Michelle (Defeatocrats' cheer) Malkin and then Rick (mah HAIR) Perry decide that maybe the dirty hippies were right.

I've always described Republicans as "A Democrat who hasn't gotten their cancer diagnosis yet", but this should be instructive - Freeperati-wise.

Every discussion about decriminalization I've ever seen in Freeperville has been about 9-1 in favour of killing the stoned hippies (the 1 being a Paulian or other flavour of Libertarian). Now, it's one of their very own right-wing masturbatory fantasy women pimping the Devil Weed.

There are a few Freepers of the Paulian/Libertarian bent who defend Malkin and Perry's views on decriminalization, but most are deeply offended and disappointed.

As a Monday morning bonus, there is also a (I kid you not)  video included put together by a Republican foot fetishist - it features a barefoot Malkin culled from several of her homemade videos.  Each shot is repeated in slow-mo for maximum pedal-derived stimulation.

I feel dirty just having typed that.

And as bad as the foot fetish video is, the YouTube comments are worse.
Let's just say they doesn't do anything to dispel the stereotype of Republicans that are thinking with the wrong head.

No excerpts from this one as I don't want to give Free Republic any click-throughs or hits - please go to my original post on First Draft (link below) for the whole thing.

Oh, OK - one choice Freeper comment to whet your appetite for The Stupid:

The legalize and legitimize pot movement is in lockstep with the homosexualist movement to legitimize sodomy.

The rest here (if Perry is serious about ever running for President again, the comments from The Base should give him a Very Bad Day) :

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

We are on the verge of a change in this country that is every bit as progressive as other major civil rights struggles.  Marijuana legalization is a freight train coming round the bend now.  The genie cannot be put back in the bottle as Colorado and Washington prove a) the feds won't intervene and b) you can make huge amounts of tax revenue and c) none of the predicted negative outcomes (car crashes, stoned doctors, etc.) seem to be happening (as I recall, initial stats from both states show both auto fatalities and petty crime have diminished, although it's too soon to call the relationship causal).

California and a few other states will fall next.  But the travesty of civil rights that has seen generations of people of color harassed, arrested, and jailed over a harmless plant that grows wild and has been used by humans safely for millennia will need a federal intervention to stop it in those states that seek every possible means to oppress communities of color and poor people -- Oklahoma, Mississippi, and others, I'm looking at you, New York City too, although the winds are shifting fast there.

So if a widely visible and respectable (on the right) conservative blogger wants to buck her party's racist thinking for once and stand up for something quite important to freedom for all of us, I welcome her support. We can argue about other subjects, but she is dead right on this one and if she's willing to take the slings and arrows to move the ball down the field, she has my tentative gratitude.

As for foot fetishism, I've always thought Republicans were mostly fetishists of various kinds, but with a special fondness for masochistic foot fetishism, seeing as how they do so love to shoot straight down.

...indicates that she's willing to take "slings and arrows" from anyone on any subject.
Her specialty is shrilly shrieking at anyone who disagrees with her, not rational consensus-building.
That's why this is so funny (because now she's going to become a casualty of the right-wing "purity wars") and instructive (right-wingers never have any empathy for people who are hurting until one of those people are THEM, or a close family member).

all opposition will dissolve like the morning dew.

Colorado took in, what, $2 million in tax revenues  since pot was legalized? Those are the kind of numbers the Makers will embrace to their greedy little hearts. The arguments for free-market are just around the corner.

what excuse will the  police use to justify their continued evolution into an army?  why would they need to buy tanks and crowd control heat/sound machines?  what excuse will they use to murder people and steal their property if they can't scream the dead were dfh?   there is so much money being traded by police departments and defense contractors that the vested interest in continuing the drug policies overwhelm the rights of the people the police are supposed to serve.
