April 1st was a historic day.  Even though I'm not one of the seven million Americans to signup for the ACA, I share their joy and relief in knowing that my pre-existing conditions will not prevent me from having insurance; and I will be able to get, and afford it when I need it.  This is the result of decades of heavy lifting by Democrats and a long-overdue fix to a badly broken system.

We didn't get this far without overcoming unprecedented resistance and obstruction by our opponents. And they are not giving up - neither should we.  Now that we have this victory, we need to protect it and defend it vociferously.  I want the House Republicans to have to defend their 54 votes to repeal Obamacare.  They should explain why anyone in this great country should have to go without health care.

My humble solution, more below the golden croissant...

To celebrate this momentous occasion, I have decided to take action and defend our President.  Nobody has done more to get us to this point in the health care debate and it will be his great legacy to our ungrateful nation.

I ordered 100 bumper stickers for me, my friends and my fellow progressives.  I'd like to donate these to the Daily Kos community and offer them to my brother and sister Kossacks for free! Let's spread the word together and stand up for what we believe in!  I will see how far these 90 or so decals will go and order hundreds more if the demand requires.  Postage for the first 100 are on me, and after that, a SASE will be required.  Please contact me through the DK message system and leave your address if you want one.  I will send the first batch out this weekend and every few days thereafter until I run out.  Since quantities are limited, please don't ask for one unless you plan on displaying it.

This is the central political issue of our time and I hope that the defense of Obamacare becomes the national issue that drives Democratic voter turnout in the mid-term election.  If you care about Obamacare, I implore you to step up and share your support with a skeptical public.  Our voices are real, and they are far louder than any Koch brothers' commercial. Please let yours be heard.

I hope there is a lot more to come...

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

At the minimum we have to say that Obamacare is good policy that makes millions of people healthier.

Progressives cannot be complacent and believe that the facts will speak for themselves. Candidates cannot runaway from the issue and say the ACA needs fixing without defending the goodness of the law. The attitude that the facts speaks for themselves misunderstands human psychology. With the Republicans pouring money into the political system to tell a false story of how the ACA is destroying the economy, Democracy and liberty without a response from Democrats will give voters the choice: Repeal a bad law versus be stuck with a bad law. I will guarantee you that the voters will choose to repeal a bad law.

if we do not follow up with action as TheodorP is doing. I have my sticker, "I (heart) Obamacare", which has been on my car  since they first issued them. Now I have a new one which says "Keep Your Hands Off My ObamaCare" because I benefit from ACA even though I had insurance already.

Great title for your post and great call to action.
