Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX) is the chair of the House Homeland Security Committee and the alleged "richest " member of Congress. McCaul of course made his money the old fashioned way he married the daughter of Clear Channel Communications' Lowry Mays. Naturally since he is a Republican and rich he did not ever feel the necessity of serving in the armed forces. This of course did not stop him, within hours of the latest Fort Hood tragedy from taking to any camera he could find to argue that soldiers should be able to carry guns on military bases. This of course was based on his years of taking zero risks sitting on his ass in Washington DC.
Yesterday McCaul however ran into major push back from a man with real life service to this country and extensive experience with loaded guns.
Colonel Jack Jacobs a man with 2 Silver Stars, 2 Purple Hearts, 3 Bronze Stars and the Medal of Honor. In addition to those qualifications he was a faculty member at West Point.
Follow below the thing
Yesterday when asked about McCaul 's comments on MSNBC the Colonel, who strikes me as someone who doesn't suffer fools at all, responded by saying that McCaul didn't know what he was talking about. When the host said McCaul was chair of Homeland Security Committee he said that he was stupid and that he wasn't going to get into an argument about it but that McCaul should retract his comment.
McCaul didn't take that advise but at least in his hometown newspaper the picture didn't show McCaul but instead had a picture of Senator Cornyn (another non serving chicken hawk) . McCaul kind of disappeared.
Colonel Jacobs was not through and today on M SNBC he had another encounter regarding weapons on base.

It is funny to me that anyone who thinks that a military base with 900 square kilometrrs and a population of 70,000 including 42,000 military personnel should have a policy that allows them to carry weapons. As Colonel Jacobs said the only thing that would have done was cause fratricide.
I ask you who are you going to believe? I believe the highly trained Medal of Honor recipient and faculty member at West Point and not the untrained son in law of Clear Channel Communications. McCaul 's only credential is that he was able to buy a House seat by marrying rich.
