Since Monday I've been waging a war on misinformation in some of the comments sections of some of the ACA news stories about the ACA breaking 7 million enrollments by midnight Monday.
One thing I've notice is a consistent inflation in the numbers of uninsured people in the country. On Monday, for example, conservatives were bemoaning that even if 7 million enrolled, that was out of "20 million uninsured people".
As the days went on, I notice a trend in the comments where those numbers of uninsured kept growing. In a few hours, it had increased to over 30 million. By Tuesday night I was seeing 45 and 47 million uninsured being quoted. Today, I've now seen that claim grow to a whopping 51 million. And that claim was the 51 million were uninsured after the 7.1 million enrollments!
51 million?!? The latest population estimates are that the US has a population of about 314 million, so 51 million uninsured means that more than 16% of the country has no insurance coverage.
But one thing I've noticed, is that for all of conservatives' criticisms of Common Core math, it sure can't compare to their own Fantasy Math (wherein the answer is whatever you want it to be).
