My problem this past 2 weeks is I am suffering from a bit of a broken heart.
I am the crazy cat lady in these here parts. I have 6 indoors and then a feral colony outdoors, and I feed the dumps and strays in the area too, so I really have a lot of cats. And one of my ferals is missing. :(
Come below for more...
My feral colony consists of a mama, who is in and out and wise to the ways of man, and her 2 first litters - one litter had 2 survivors and the second had 4 survivors. They all have names and the first 2 came to the point of loving being petted, and 2 of the second are well on their way to that too; the other 2 are toying with the idea, lol.
Gigi (GG for grey girl) is the mama. Gogo (G.O. for grey one) and Blackie are the first litter which was born in my shed almost a year ago and have called my yard home all their lives. The second litter was born in the barn about a football field from my yard and Gigi brought them to my yard when they were 4 weeks old. They are Mardi, Lainie, Freckles, and Lightning.
These kittens go play by day and almost always come home at night to eat and sleep. I have insulated doghouses for them when it's cold and they lounge on the roofs of them when it's warm. Occasionally, the older ones will skip a night or two, and on New Year's Eve, Blackie went missing for a few days cuz the fireworks all around scared him.
Well Blackie is missing now. It's been 2 weeks tonight since I've seen him. My neighbor had a fire that night and he cuddled in my lap for the entire time and I haven't seen him since. I've looked around all the roads around my house and he hasn't been hit. I even checked the pound. He's gone. Sigh...
My phone cam sucks, but this is Blackie. He has a really pretty face but ya can't tell by the sucky pic:
Blackie was a fancy kitty. He was all black with one little circular tuft of white fur on his upper chest that looked like a button. He was the first feral to ever let me touch him, and once he got a taste of the petting stuff, he couldn't get enough and convinced his brother that it was an awesome thing. :D
He was a lover kitty, but a bit rambunctious too:
I know Gogo misses him. Gogo has been wanting lap time and petting a lot more in the past week. They've been thick as thieves all their lives and I think he's depressed. This is the two of them. Blackie is licking his chops having just eaten, lol:
I miss Blackie. I know those are the risks of having a feral colony or outdoor cats in general, but someone needs to care for them and they've become a part of my family. But on the occasion they don't come back I just have a big broken heart. I've had 2 other kitties who were dumps that have left and every time it breaks my heart. But Blackie has been my little guy all his life so I'm extra broken hearted. That's my problem tonight... Thanks for listening.
So what is your problem tonight?
