As you know, the Tea Party began their long ascendance by demanding their country back. In many ways they have succeeded. As a Christian, I have particularly noticed their usurpation of the Gospel message. Perhaps they have their own translation. Maybe it is something like this:
" Matthew 25:41 Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ original translation
Tea Party addendum: And they said to Him: Lord, those who were hungry were children whose parents were dependent on welfare and had no work ethic so we cut their food stamps to teach them the value of work. The ones that were thirsty? They had drinking water. Sure, it smelled like licorice and was a tad bit brown, but coal is important to the economy and we can't shackle job creators with unnecessary regulation. As for the strangers, we were working on that one. We almost got the border secured, that was one long fence. Once we got that done we were going to do something about all those illegals, then we could know which folks we could welcome. Let's see, what else? Clothes. Hmm, well every year we did an angel tree at church. We found poor families and visited them and asked for a list of what they needed. If the kids wanted toys instead of socks, they got toys. The last two are kinda hard. See, sick folks just went to the emergency room and then went home and we weren't sure where to find them. As for prisons, we visited the ones who were from our church or those who became Christian while in there. But a bunch of them were Muslims, you wouldn't want us to visit them.
And Jesus said, "Well, all right then. "
Note: to all of you who find Christianity in any form destructive, or irrational, or fairy tales, we get it. This is actually for the faithful who grieve for a church kidnapped by intolerance, greed and selfishness.
