Warning: Thought Experiment: What if Vietnam wouldn't agree to a truce and we were fighting there today; even after 50 years. What if Vietnam were winning battle after battle?
Could you imagine the Democratic party, who started The Vietnam War, still in existence? No.
The Climate War for the United States begin in 2005 with Katrina (a debatable point). What's will 2055. Will things get better? HELL NO.
The Republican Climate-Change-Denier Party will also cease to exist. The Climate War will not go away. And it will get worse the next 50 years. Each year more and more droughts, floods, hurricanes, crop failings and food scarcity, drinking water scarcity, etc...
Follow me the orange squiggle if you dare to venture into Climate Hell.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPC) highlights a lot of Climate Hell coming attraction, coming soon to your doorsteps. It's really frightening. http://en.wikipedia.org/...
Since the world's wealthy governments have done next to nothing to combat climate change it won't stop and will get MUCH WORSE for the next 50 years. They've agreed to do something but they have done next to nothing. The current administration has an all of the above energy strategy which has increased the drilling for fossil fuels.
Hold on speed racer, the United States has reduced Co2 emissions but that wasn't with much government help. Changing coal fired electric generation plants to natural gas helped a lot as well as decreased driving and economic activity (The Great Recession). We still don't have a carbon tax and we still give billion dollar subsidies to the oil companies who made about 100 billion dollars last year.
The GOP WILL NOT EXIST because they are totally opposed to doing anything about Climate Change. They even deny it's happening, even today.
Just get them on video denying Climate Change. Loop it like we looped Bill O'Reilly's "Fuck it, I'll do it live" at the Austin Net Roots Nation video. We'll win election after election.
That's the good news. The bad news is that lack of food and water will hurt many poor countries. Ask Maldives, The Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and other island countries. They will bear the brunt of this sooner than we do.
