Received this e-mail today from Michelle Nunn's (D. GA) U.S. Senate campaign:
I've emailed before about an issue of particular importance to me, as a mother and as a candidate who has talked to women throughout Georgia: Equal pay for equal work.
But because of some new developments, I'm emailing once again with some timely information.
Tomorrow is Equal Pay Day -- a date that symbolizes how far into the year women must work to make up for what men made the previous year. And as early as tomorrow, the Senate is likely to vote on the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would go a long way toward fixing the fact that, on average, women make 77 cents for every dollar men make.
I've spoken with so many hard-working families across Georgia and I know what a difference equal pay for equal work would mean for them. We can't sit on the sidelines at this critical moment. That's why I'm turning to you -- to help build strong grassroots support for the Paycheck Fairness Act in the remaining hours before the vote.
Please join me today -- along with dozens of other women running for office across the country -- to call on Congress to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act.

Equal pay for equal work isn't just good for women and their families. It's good for everyone. If we close this unfair pay gap, economists estimate our country's economy would grow three to four percent.
Respect for hard work is something that should bridge party lines – and the fact that the Paycheck Fairness Act does not have a sure shot of passing is another example of what's broken with the way Washington does business. This Congress may just act, though, with the encouragement of citizens nationwide.
That's why it's crucial for all of us to speak out about how important it is to support equal pay for equal work.
Please join me -- along with women candidates from across the country -- to support the Paycheck Fairness Act in anticipation of a Senate vote as early as tomorrow.

It is my hope that by the time I get to the Senate, Congress will have already acted on equal pay for equal work -- but if not, I assure you that I will work hard to turn this bill into law.
I appreciate your help addressing this issue of fundamental fairness.
Sincerely,
Michelle Nunn
