It seems that NBC are trying to crowd source ideas for a new sitcom to replace Seinfeld, Frenz or whatever. Dov12348 had a diary asking for ideas, but by the time I saw it and added my idea it was already like #48 on the recent diaries list so it did not get much traction.
But thinking more about it later, my initial idea started to flesh out, and I offer it up here for feedback.
Sitcom title GUN NUTZ
Locations 2 primary locations a gunclub/range and a bar.
Characters Mainly white dudes - with the occasional LBGT thrown in for added plot lines
Recurring themes and sources of humor
Definition of well regulated - potty humor
Angst about genital sufficiency
arguments on open vs concealed (clever allusion to out and closeted gays)
10 is not enough - various interpretations.
Main characters
Kevin - cool down to earth dude - the voice of reason
Hal - guy with a fetish for dressing up
Norm - the guy from Cheers, now tooled up
West - never knows when to stop talking
Francis - always with an opinion - never backed up by facts.
Plot lines.
Episode 1
Hal wanted to send a pirate flintlock to a buddy in another state, so he gave it to DHL, and promptly received a visit from ATF. Cue general grumbling, constitution lawyering (amateur hour) and wet pants at the though of loosing his concealed carry permit.
Episode 2
Kevin makes a house call, carrying concealed heat as usual which is spotted by the home owner. The home owner sticks the hot end of a 12 guage in his ear and calls the cops. Later in bar - general bitching and moaning about how Kevin's rights have been infringed
Episode 3
Down at the range, Francis is trying to explain and demonstrate why only idiots shoot themselves when cleaning their guns, when he forgets there is one in the chamber and blow off his middle finger. Lots of Rahm Emmanuel jokes here.
Themetrack - Only one choice
Jon Bon Jovi's "It's my right", with these wonderful lyrics
It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just wanna live while I'm alive
It's my life
This is for the ones who stood their ground
For Tommy and Gina who never backed down
Tomorrow's getting harder make no mistake
Luck ain't even lucky
Got to make your own breaks
