...to everyone we know. Especially our teens. It's powerful and worth sharing.

More Tagging tips:
A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?
Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.
If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office.
CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.
Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.
Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary:
Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House.
If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state
Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries
that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Thanks for sharing. I am passing that along.

It really struck me in its simplicity. And I'm just so devastated by needless deaths caused by texting.

I ride my bike to and from work everyday and at least once a week, I am almost struck by a texting driver. I have told my kids, "You know how your dad is gonna' die? Being run over by a texting driver."
It has made an impression on them.
But I am sending them this, as well.

I don't text when I drive, but I've gotten distracted searching for CD titles and radio stations, and I'm old enough to know better....or so I thought.
I hope this ad saves some lives. Including yours, Bob!

anyone would even think of texting while driving. I taught my son that a vehicle is a weapon which, if used carelessly or cavalierly, can kill just as quickly and indiscriminately as a loaded gun.

I know we all feel indestructible at a certain age, and nobody thinks an accident will happen to them...........and it's not easy to get that message across.
I've heard of new autos that feature built-in texting on the dash, which certainly doesn't help the problem.

Hell, people can't even talk on the phone and SHOP. I see it every day. Tonight it was a particularly bad case: guy comes in literally three minutes before closing. Tries to get an icee. Icee machine (for that flavor) is defrosting...he's on the phone, he's not getting icee he's getting syrup diluted by club soda, he's yakking on the phone.
I send my coworker (who usually has a loud voice) to tell him We Are Fucking Closed.
No dice. She's entirely too polite. (WTF?)
Finally I follow him around. Folded arms. Pursed lips. "We are closed. We close at midnight." He thanks me and pays for his drink and apologizes.
But if he hadn't been more intent on his phone call than on my coworker, he might have been quicker on the uptake. Fer FSM's sake, WE TURNED OUT THE GODDAMN LIGHTS AND HE DIDN'T NOTICE!
Texting is even worse.
