I was wandering through Facebook tonight and came across what I found to be one of the most intriguing signs yet that the GOP might indeed be "moving on" from their 4-year, 50+ vote crusade to get rid of the Affordable Care Act and deprive millions of Americans of secure, affordable health care. Take a look at the screen copy of this official Facebook post from the National Republican Campaign Committee.
Notice anything unusual?
The graphic itself is very defiant, promising not to "move on" from their never-ending obsession with the ACA. But take a close look at the copy that accompanies the graphic, (which I've gladly highlighted). Most of the NRCC followers reading this post won't make much of the way this is worded, but it's actually fairly significant...
NO mention of "repealing" the ACA.
NO mention of "replacing" the ACA.
But not one, but TWO references to "fixing" the ACA.
This is clearly intentional. Most of these official communications are very carefully worded, especially when they're fundraising, which was the purpose of this post. And fundraising posts are typically the most provocative, trying to ignite the passions of the base so they'll loosen their wallets. So the fact that they wouldn't even mention the "R" words raises a few questions. Looks to me like the GOP and NRCC might have finally accepted a little dose of political reality?
Wonder what Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and their Tea Party disciples have to say about this...
