Guy wearing tinfoil hat
A visual approximation of the Liberty Counsel offices.
And then they came for the heterosexuals, and it was like Sharia and stuff except the opposite, and they put us all into gay indoctrination camps and made us marry each other and stuff.
Will it soon be taboo to be heterosexual in America? Vote for #promarriage

'Liberty Counsel' would be Matt Barber's place—connoisseurs of crazy will recognize the name. The proximate cause of his bug-eyed terror this time around is that Illinois Republicans on the party's central committee who wanted to oust Illinois Chairman Pat Brady for insufficient hatred of homosexuals mostly lost their re-election races. This is because, apparently, The Gays have taken over the Illinois Republican Party, bringing Matt Barber one step closer to his imaginations of forced gay marriages and prison camps for straight people.

Or it could just have been because Illinois Republicans were generally cleaning house; only seven of 18 committee members were re-elected, so it wasn't just the half-dozen anti-Bradyers who got the boot. While we can look forward to the day when being a crackpot bigot with delusions of heterosexual persecution is an unpopular thing to be, we ain't there yet, so I think your everyday straight person is probably even more safe. So no, Matt Barber, I don't think this is a case of the "gay jihad" claiming another American state for the cause of righteous homosexualisms. Jeebus, guy, get a grip.

We really should pay more attention to these Liberty Counsel nuts. They've generally stayed off the radar because there's only so many hours in the day, but they are just so, so easy to mess with. Matt Barber is one armored-vehicle-flying-the rainbow-flag away from locking himself away in an underground bunker for the next 10 years, and we could totally arrange for one of those to drive down his street one fine spring morning.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
