During Sunday’s broadcast of ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos,
Conservative pundit and Weekly Standard founder Bill Kristol, while participating in a panel discussion over statements made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling that were captured by Sterling’s girlfriend, smugly suggested that individuals who were offended by Sterling’s remarks were simply overreacting, for as he saw it:
Everyone goes hysterical over two or three sentences
Kristol then went on to add:
Private organizations can deal with, private businesses can fire people, I suppose.
I suppose....
Emphasis by diarist.
Sterling's girlfriend who incurred the wrath of the NBA team owner after she posed in photographs on social media, with African Americans including Los Angeles Lakers legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Jr., captured Sterling's remarks on an audio recording, remarks, including the sampling
below, which Kristol seemed comfortable in making light of:
"It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people. Do you have to?"
"You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want. The little I ask you is not to promote it on that ... and not to bring them to my games."
"I’m just saying, in your lousy f*** Instagrams, you don’t have to have yourself with, walking with black people."
"...Don't put him [Magic] on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me. And don't bring him to my games."
What follows is a study in racial hypocrisy:
During a recent appearance on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, Kristol became outraged when Maher suggested that the genesis of the Tea Party movement was about protesting a Black president.
Maher pointed out some of the issues that the Tea Party railed against, including bailouts by the government. Kristol disagreed.
Kristol: What was the origin of the tea party 5 years ago? It wasn’t about bailouts.
Maher: Sure it was.
Kristol: It was not. It was about a mortgage bill. Then it was about Obamacare and then it was about the stimulus—
Maher: It was about a black president. But let’s—
Kristol: That’s bullsh*t! That is total bullsh*t!
The hysterical Kristol continued:
Kristol: You think tens of millions of people, just out there, they just—-even you don’t believe that. You’re just saying that.
Maher: I totally believe that, it happened a month after he took office. Suddenly white people were very upset about debt, even though [former President George W.] Bush had raised the debt way more than Obama had.
So...Mr. Kristol, does your sense of privilege extend to the notion that you are entitled to be “hysterical” when your integrity or lack thereof as a member of the Tea Republican Party is
rightfully demeaned due to its actions as being racist, meanwhile Blacks and those against racism should chill and remain silent after hearing the racist and demeaning utterances of Donald Sterling?
You are coming through loud and clear…. As they used to say in olden days…birds of a feather flock together….
