North Carolina has a strange way of electing judges. Since judges are suppose to be "non-partisan" the primary is used to reduce the number of judges to the two that will contest the spot in the general election. Anyone who votes in the primary--Republican, Democrat or Unaffiliated can vote for the justices.
We have a wonderful Supreme Court Justice here in North Carolina named Robin Hudson. She is one of the few not crazy Justices on the court.
The Koch Brothers conspired with Art Pope (NC's Koch brother from another mother) to enter two candidates to run against Justice Hudson -- Eric Levinson and Jeanette Doran.
A shadowy independent expenditure political action committee, North Carolina Chamber IE, is now running ads for both Eric Levinson and Jeanette Doran to the tune of $255,000. $255,000 is a lot of money for a NC Judicial election primary.
The News-Record reports:
North Carolina Chamber IE reported it was funded by $50,000 from Koch Industries Public Sector LLC of Washington, D.C.; $100,000 from Reynolds American; $75,000 from Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina; and $50,000 from Glen Raven Inc.; and others.
A second TV ad campaign, this one attacking Hudson for a dissenting opinion she wrote in 2010, began airing on North Carolina TV stations. It is paid for by Justice for all North Carolina, another independent expenditure political action committee.

Since there is a hot primary in the Republican party for Senate and a number of House seats around the state, the fear is that Justice Hudson will be eliminated before anyone even knows there is a race.
If you are registered to vote in North Carolina go vote. Early voting ends this week.
If you are registered and don't vote in the primary I will haunt you for the rest of your days.
If you don't live in North Carolina, but know some one who does, get them to vote.
It is that important.
Remember a lot of important issues are going to be decided by this Supreme Court, like voters ID and redistricting.
