If you are especially squeamish you might want to pass on this story, but if you are willing to get past some really awful stuff and are angry about police brutality dig in.  I will say that I know this young man, the story is true, and I am so seething mad about it that I will not rest until we change things in this country.  If you are with me, solidarity my friend.

Full story from KOB TV 4

I find it hard to write about.  As I mentioned, I know this young man.  He is quiet, polite, intelligent, thoughtful and pretty deep.  You notice him because of his handsome face and unique style.  He is a pretty terrific kid.

I know he wouldn't be disrespectful or aggressive with a cop.  Being a law student I can imagine him knowing his rights enough to politely question what was being done to him.  But no matter what he did, no one deserves to be abused by the police.  No one.

Albuquerque has been in crisis for weeks now since a rash of officer involved shootings.  Most recently the 19 year old daughter of a magistrate judge was shot and killed while running from the police.

We must stand up, and we need help.  The Justice Department is monitoring the situation here, but we need more than that.  If this could happen to Jeremy it could happen to any one of us.  If you are out there, we need your help.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
