As has been noted on this board already, Dr. Annette Bosworth, a Republican Senate candidate posted this:
“The food stamp program is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture," the graphic reads. "They proudly report that they distribute free meals and food stamps to over 46 million people on an annual basis."
“Meanwhile, the National Park Service, run by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us ‘please do not feed the animals.’ Their stated reason for this policy being that … the animals will grow dependent on the handouts, and then they will never learn to take care of themselves,” the post continues. “This concludes today’s lesson. Any questions?”
So, let's look at some other examples of handouts creating dependency, below...
The big problem with America is this habit of parents feeding their children too often. Three times a day, every day? That creates dependency! If they really cared about their kids, they would wean them off free meals, so they could learn self-sufficiency. Start at age four, take it down to two meals a day. By age seven, one meal a day. Age 10? You're on your own. Builds character. You'll thank me for this...blah blah.
And then, there is this sentimental crap about feeding your elderly parents when they can no longer manage for themselves. I hope Dr. Bosworth isn't coddling her parents--it might make them slide into dependency sooner than they would if they weren't getting handouts. Then again, I don't know Bosworth's parents. Maybe they weaned her off food when she was 10. It would explain a lot!
Let's not feed our soldiers in the field. It would make them fat and complacent. Not a great state to be in when you have to defend our American way of life. We want HUNGRY soldiers, soldiers who fight with a chip on their shoulders! None of this stupid coddling.
Then there are those hospital meals they bring you when you're recovering from surgery. What a waste of public resources! We should give those patients the incentive to get up, get out and back to being productive members of society. Make it too comfortable for them and you just encourage them to freeload on our medical system, and everyone knows the cost of healthcare is out of control.
Let's stop sending food aid to poor countries. Farming has been around for tens of thousands of years (or at least 6000). If these people can't be bothered to farm, then fuck 'em! So what if their land is turning into desert? They should have thought of that before they moved there. We are letting them off the hook for their own lack of foresight.
I think executive dining rooms should be banned. One of the reasons American industry is losing its edge is because the companies let their executives fill up on free lunches in the executive dining room. Who has time to go out and compete for market share or do a really nifty downsizing when your belly is too full?

This level of stupidity should be shocking, but somehow, it just seems inevitable.
