Police Brutality

Laws Passed Against Police Brutality

I'm seriously shocked. These are definitely not the NYC Cops I remember from the sixties, seventies, eighties and nineties.

In my day, most of the Police I encountered were good guys, would never do this to people.

Sure, there was always some police brutality.

But what has been perpetrated on these young Occupy Protesters has rarely been seen before in New York City.

This is violence against the people in epidemic proportions, just by it's sheer brutality alone!

I remember New York City Police; being especially kind to young people, whom they always wanted to help.

I find that New York City's hiring idiots, like those brutalizing the Occupy Protesters, is reprehensible!

I expect more from a sophisticated city like New York.

You know; all these cops at the Occupy, wall st protests, are "f--k up's from different Precincts who don't want them f--king up in their neighborhoods."

All these old officers you see in the videos, they're the biggest "f--k-up's." That's why they don't have soft desk jobs.

This is how come, there's so much stupidity, all  in one place.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

terrorism is that some police men and women are being burutalized by it too

so you have to be careful who you demonize

although its not very difficult to get someone in any police department to go crazy and brutalize people.

its similar to nazism and i can't figure out where its originating from

the only thing I know is its not the Democrats because they are getting the fuck beat out of them too

Well you know, there are a lot of good cops. Not these mentioned here, but the brutal ones are generally the exceptions.

busted for tampering with cop eqpt rather than risk being recorded while doing their thing. (L.A.). Nobody ever produces any evidence for all those good cops, out finking on their no so good brothers in blue and all that. Funny.

But even worse than this violence; is the fact that it was condoned by the mayor, bloomberg. Help for his pals on wall st.

Seriously; pepper spraying young people, for no reason. Beating them to the ground, for no reason, and much worse.

Since when did New York City become a police state?

This is a terrible state of politics when crimes like those perpetrated by some police against the OWS Protesters; are institutionalized, by those in power!

It's insane what these cops were doing to OWS Protesters.

They can't commit this kind of brutality against people who are peacefully protesting.

It's like the entire country has gone mad when it comes to civil rights.

Time to stop this crazy now!

that the real push behind the Occupy movement is the redistribution of wealth.  This is a very scary prospect for those who have been able to amass the most wealth over the last 30 years.  They do not want to let go of their accumulated wealth because their basic, driving theory on life is, "those with the most toys wins."

MLK Jr. was not assassinated for his work for civil rights.  He was assassinated when he began working on income equality.  The redistribution of wealth is necessary to keep the economy and this country going; however, those who have benefited the most from the regressive tax laws, loopholes and economic structure that allowed them to hoard personal wealth at the expense of the common good will not easily let go of those ill-gotten gains.

The tradition of noblesse oblige has long been forgotten.  Those who have the wealth now have forgotten the social compact that requires them to help those who are less fortunate for the betterment of the entire society.

Not only have they forgot about the social contract, they have also forgotten, that this is America and we have actual laws nowadays that prohibit assault. Even for those under arrest, it's against the law to beat them up.

Some politicians nowadays do not understand that we are a Democratic system; not, a dictatorship.

Los Angeles police officers tampered with voice recording equipment in dozens of patrol cars in an effort to avoid being monitored while on duty, according to records and interviews.

An inspection by Los Angeles Police Department investigators found about half of the estimated 80 cars in one South L.A. patrol division were missing antennas, which help capture what officers say in the field. The antennas in at least 10 more cars in nearby divisions had also been removed.
