Passing the baton, from Benghazi conspiracy monger Rep. Darrell Issa (R) to Benghazi conspiracy monger Rep. Trey Gowdy (L).
When House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi demanded equal representation in the GOP's conspiracy-chasing Benghazi committee, its chairman, Rep. Trey Gowdy, wasn't amused.
Gowdy on Pelosi calling for equal R/D breakdown on #benghazi cmte: We're the majority right now. We're the majority for a reason
— @ChadPergram
Yeah, there's a reason. But it has nothing to do with public sentiment.
National popular vote, 2012 House races:
Democrats: 59,645,531
Republicans: 58,228.253
That 35-seat Republican majority came despite receiving 1.4 million fewer votes than the Democrats. That's a pretty impressive, and aggressive gerrymander.
So yes, Republicans have a majority for a reason, but it's not because more people love them. It's because they manipulated the levers of the redistricting process to cede themselves an undemocratic advantage. It works! So good for them. But Gowdy will have to look elsewhere if he wants the moral high ground.
Ha ha, "moral high ground"... I almost forget we're talking about #Benghazi kabuki.
