Humm? What's this

Today when the House Panel Approved the 601 billion NDAA draft something very important went Mysteriously missing.

Looks like the 'Gold Over People' Party is anticipating a win in the mid_term and a "Coup d'etat"  if needed to retain their control after that,  as possibly indicated, by the Mysterious stripping of shielding from indefinite Detention that had previously be put in place by a amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act of 2013 was added by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).

Surely they don't have Nefarious Evil plans to imprison indefinitely without trial by the military the folks on the Bundy farm, should they get the 2014 majority ???

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

the president will sign it anyway....its not any better than previous ones that should have been vetoed outright that the president has signed. I see no reason to expect adherence to the constitution now.

that the White House insisted be included in the bill the first time Congress put indefinite detention into the bill.

Obama threatened a veto over it,* and only signed the NDAA after this language was added, so I find it pretty unlikely they'd sit still for it now.

*over the exemption for American citizens, and also over the "shall" language that would have required the executive branch to use indefinite military detention instead of putting al Qaeda suspects into the prison system.

against the wishes of the Republican House leadership, by the White House, as part of the veto-threat standoff back when the detention authority was first put into the NDAA (2011? 2012?). They've never wanted it in there.

The article linked dates back over a year to December of 2012 and it indicates that the Feinstein amendment was indeed stripped for the 2013 NDAA replacing it with the lame language...and the president signed that.

the FY 2014 NDAA continued that lame language...and the president signed it...

Moreover the NDAA provision (first signed into law in 2012) which permits the military to detain individuals indefinitely without trial, remains in 2014.
    Source: Wikipedia...I know

Best that I can tell is that the FY 2015 NDAA is out of committee but hasn't been voted on by the full house or senate yet so if the Feinstein language has been reinserted, there is still plenty of time for it to be removed again.

Despite threats of veto, the president has signed every NDAA that crossed his desk and not a one of them has had the Feinstein amendment in it, but rather the poor language quoted in the dated article linked in the diary.

I hope its gone...we will see when its approved.
