Had a diary in the queue -- a general rant about life out of balance.
Deleted it.
Something else came up...
WYFP is our community's Saturday evening gathering to talk about our problems, empathize with one another, and share advice, pootie pictures, favorite adult beverages, and anything else that we think might help. Everyone and all sorts of troubles are welcome. May we find peace and healing here. Won't you please share the joy of WYFP by recommending?
Those of you who've met me in person (and lived to tell the tale) might recall a small mole on the right side of my nose. It's stationary, unlike Prince John's:
and it's been there pretty much as long as I remember. My mom had one, and my second sister has one. Never really took that much notice of it...
...until Wednesday night, when I noticed I could actually see it in my lower peripheral vision. And it hurt -- like a bunch of tiny gnomes were punching it with sewing needles. Still didn't think much about it...till I remembered that my oldest sister had a mole removed from her neck last fall, and it turned out to be malignant.
So, the next morning I was going to go to Urgent Care to have it checked out...but Mr. Scribe ended up taking his time getting ready, then had to go out in the afternoon to take his brother to a scheduled physical. By the time he got home from there and his mom's, it was really too late for us to be going to the clinic, so we were going to go this morning.
We ended up not getting up there till the afternoon. The doctor took a look at it, and it did look a little red. She thought there might be a mild skin infection so she prescribed a short course of antibiotics (which I'll have to wait to start; turned out that the pharmacy where I had her send the prescription was closed due to an unexpected power outage), and a referral to Dermatology to have it checked out in more detail. I was able to go upstairs and make the appointment (in fact they called me on my cell on the way up) so I'm set for Monday at 2pm. She didn't seem too concerned, but the fact it's on the face (which gets a lot of sun exposure) warranted additional investigation in her mind; at the very least they'd be able to cut it off or whatever and biopsy it.
Trying not to worry too much, and the nose still hurts...it's now more a throbbing so I guess the gnomes with sewing needles are off duty. And I guess I should pick up a few more hats and ball caps to keep the sun mostly off my face when I'm out and about; I've got my "Gigantes" cap for the SF Giants, and I think I've got a pink Disneyland cap around somewhere but I could probably use a bit more headwear. But it's just a matter of waiting till Monday to see what the dermatologist says, then going forward from there.
So, that's this week's FP.
How's life by you?
