It is scientifically impossible to describe how stupid this man is.
Former actual congressman and current actual Fox News contributor Allen West (R-TheVoicesInHisHead) is always a reliable indicator of what the intellectual giants of tea party conservatism are thinking. Now he wants you to know that he finds all this attention being given to African terrorists in Nigeria "fishy," because
it's probably meant as a distraction from Benghazi!:
Are we witnessing an Obama “Wag the Dog” moment with Boko Haram in Nigeria? I say yes.
Consider all the scandals facing the Obama administration, especially Benghazi and the Select Committee, which Rep. Nancy Pelosi referred to as a “political stunt.” Really? Four Americans die, we’re told it was because of an anti-Islam video, no one has been “brought to justice” and THAT is a phony scandal and a political stunt? Boy, if this had been a Republican president, he or she certainly would never have been reelected because the media would have been all over it. Instead the media is doing everything possible to protect Obama.
I remember when nearly
3,000 people died in a terrorist attack under a Republican president and the media praised him for his leadership and he was re-elected just fine. Allen West probably doesn't because Allen West is, and this is the technical term for it, a goddamn idiot. (As evidence I present the rest of his post, which is a laundry list of everything about
Benghazi! ever conspiracy-theoried about via the Fox News machine of burps and angry grunting noises. No, you don't need to read it, though the throwaway "perhaps the intention all along was to support the Islamist forces in Syria as well" line gives you a good insight into how the poor man's mind works, or at least what radio programs he listens to, or at least remains a powerful testament to the dangers of consuming lead-based paint.)
So what better time than right now, to create the straw man of Boko Haram, another distraction for which no real action will take place. Anyone remember Joseph Kony?
There ya go. So the unofficial theory of the tea party contingent of politics is that all this attention being devoted to a current episode of terrorism in Africa is meant to distract us from a past incidence of terrorism in Africa. And nobody is allowed to care about abducted children or anything else until we get to the bottom, yet again, of what Susan-Not-Condi said on a Sunday talk show several years back.
This, for the record, is why the 2010 crop of House Republicans proved completely incapable of running the country: Both their party and its media are devoted primarily to stoking the pipe dreams of lunatics. Perhaps a fact-finding select committee on that might be in order?
