Okay, I suspect the headline here is confusing, because how on Earth could it possibly be the case that a United States Senator would clarify his position on climate change by embracing the most hardline anti-choice position out there?
Well, it could be the case if the senator in question wants to be the GOP's 2016 nominee. Proof:
Marco Rubio said his liberal critics show their “hypocrisy” when they cite science and label him a climate-change denier when they decline to embrace the science of human life beginning at conception.
And no, that's not just a paraphrase. Here's exactly what he said to Sean Hannity yesterday:
“Let me give you a bit of settled science that they’ll never admit to. The science is settled, it’s not even a consensus, it is a unanimity, that human life begins at conception,” Rubio said. “So I hope the next time someone wags their finger about science, they’ll ask one of these leaders on the left: ‘Do you agree with the consensus of science that human life begins at conception?’”
The twisted thing here is that even as Rubio as demanding the left agree with him on a policy that wouldn't just ban abortion, but would also ban many forms of contraception, he still isn't addressing his
misguided rejection of actual science of climate change. He might care enough about the next generation to force women into unwanted pregnancies, but he doesn't care enough to protect the world in which they would live.
