Being a culturally illegitimate person (bastard, perhaps?), I need to have obscure terms that the culturally hip elite understand instantly.
Stochastic, for example. You look it up and you get a bunch of damn math terms thrown at you:
involving a random variable stochastic process
In terms of math and probability, I can understand that.
Lining it up in the spectrum of synonums and antonyms, stochastic is: problematic, speculative, theoretical, vague were among my favs.
Stochastic is not: certain, definite, factual, proven, reliable, truthful.
It is a given that facts and truth and reality are an elusive thing in the realm of today's corporate media. ABC, CBS, NBC, even to some extent MSNBC, and certainly CNN, have followed like meek little lemmings the reality-challenged dictums of Roger Ailes, Rupert Murdoch, Fox So-called News and the News Corporation (which, as its name clearly indicates, manufactures news).
Truth, reality, are kind of relative... Relative to ...?
In that vein, I just discovered that there is something called Relativity Media LLC (sometimes written as RelativityMedia and Relativity), an American full-scale film studio which acquires, develops, produces, and distributes films and produces television programs. The company has invested $20 billion to date (in partnership with numerous financial institutions) as of 2012 in entertainment investments with partners such as Citibank, Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank and others. It is headquartered in Beverly Hills, California. It was founded in 2004 by Ryan Kavanaugh.
Interesting.
So into this muddled realm of stochastic reality, truth, fact, etc., add the horrendously addled state of mental health in the United States of America. There ain't no mental health in America no more. Ronald Wilson Reagan made damned sure of that.
There are a lot of mentally ill people in this country who are not recognized and given adequate treatment. Most of them are of little danger except to themselves.
But, there are some who pose a threat beyond themselves to society in general. Add to that our country is fundamentally unbalanced and insane about guns and ammunition and bombs and assault weapons. We are consumed with utter madness about these things.
Because of that, things that can do grave damage to society and humanity are available to all sorts without check. And, finally, I can point to what I found out about: Stochastic Terrorism
Stochastic terrorism is the use of mass communications to stir up random lone wolves to carry out violent or terrorist acts that are statistically predictable but individually unpredictable.
Statistically predictable. Meaning, you get a bunch of unstable variables you definitely got a chance of what you want to happen happening. You just don't know, or can predict, where or when or why or what it might be that would set off a nutcase with an automatic weapon and a bunch of ammo. You know, Sarah Palin and her little old rifle sight crosshairs focusing on former congresswoman
Gabby Gifford.
And the uncertainty, the unknowingness of it, scare the holy S**T out of everyone. But, best of all, no one can be blamed for loosing the madness.
