House Speaker John Boehner says he's not responsible for the House GOP's #Benghazi fundraising because he has nothing to do with National Republican Congressional Committee:

“Listen, I’m involved in this investigation, I’m not involved in what goes on at the campaign committee,” he said. [...]  I don’t know what the fundraising arm is doing.  All I know is that it’s time to get to the truth.”
So you can't ask Boehner about something the NRCC does because Boehner doesn't have anything to do with the NRCC. Oh really?

So who are you going to believe? John Boehner ... or John Boehner?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

because if he can call it the Democrat Party rather than the Democratic Party, we can call him Boner. It's always been a fundamental that you alone get to decide what you are called and how it's pronounced, but Boner has denied that for himself by failing to abide by it for others.

Boehner the person says "the American people" want what Boehner wants and that they "tell me" whatever he himself is thinking. It's obvious that he thinks of himself as a plural entity. Therefore, John Boehner (any given U.S. citizen) had nothing to do with the fundraising, while John Boehner (another U.S. citizen) did.

He just hasn't gotten around to the royal plural yet.

    "info@nrcc"?

And he has "nothing to do" with NRCC fundraising?

I think he needs a fresh, new, dead horse to whip.

Not to defend the orange dude, but these days everything is a reason to fund raise. How many emails do we all get saying words to the effect of:

OMG, the sky was falling, but your support helped us reach 2,167 donors in the last 17 hours, and now we can make our critical ad buy for the rest of the month to counter the evil dark sides vicious lies that are being spread against us when we took our courageous stand and now our republican opponent is quaking in his boots, etc. etc. etc.
I've gotten about 2,500 emails since the first of the year like that looking for money, or to sign a petition.

Also, too, how many of those emails come with one name as the sender, and then one or even two more showing up inside the email from someone completely different. That, unfortunately is the campaigning system we have since Citizen's United. The Benghazi hearings are bad because they are a sideshow where the republicans are trying to make Obama and Hillary Clinton look bad. That they might be used for fund raising is really a secondary issue.

Boehner:  Are you gonna believe me or your lying eyes.

Now that is a tough one.

  •  No doubt, money talks. (0+ / 0-)

But I have the strangest feeling that the Republicans are going to drop the Benghazi attack.

Or at least, scale it way back. The original plan was to run it all the way through the mid-terms. But I don't see that happening.

To me, Boehner's reticence shows him distancing himself.
