MOS = more of same.
The weather has been hot again, but is now back to normal for the time of year. Thunderstorms threatened in the forecast, but haven't happened yet.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.
If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
My daughter didn't have to work this weekend. She wasn't sure that she wouldn't have to until Friday. Saturday, she babysat for the couple who took hers last weekend. I'm not sure about today yet.
Saturday, I started sorting my laundry, and the deeper I got into the pile, the less likely it seemed to me that I was going to get any done till Sunday. I ended up going out to replace most of my socks and underwear.
I spent nearly $100 at Sock Dreams without a blink - and shouldn't need new socks for at least a year. I spent almost as much at Fred Meyer, but it wasn't all for panties - they were still having a sale on Dave's Killer Bread, so I now have three loaves of spelt bread in my freezer, and they didn't cost me much over half the usual price. I probably should have got a new shower head while I was there, but I wasn't thinking about that.
I go back next weekend with a list.
Work has been interesting this past week. In the annoying sense of the word. For one thing, I found out for certain that one of the men in the lab DOESN'T read the emails I send out. He came in absolutely certain that I had worked on and sent out an old version of the manuscript I had just finished editing. If he had read the email, he would have known that the reason there weren't 35 references was that I had found a duplicate and corrected the problem. Growl.
I'm not going to go into the other irritations, because they were either things I know will never change or one-offs that only happened because it's pretty much impossible to get my office to a comfortable temperature for more than about a minute and a half and I was already cranky when the incident in question happened. Fortunately, I am really good at acting, so I'm the only person who knows I was irritated about this particular stuff.
I do find myself wishing people would stop asking how my "kitty" is doing. I don't have a "kitty", I have a cat. And he's old and crotchety and otherwise fine.
My grandson is going through one of those phases that two-year-olds do. He'll decide he doesn't want something (sometimes something he's just asked for) and start screaming "NO" and crying. It drives my daughter up the wall. I think it may be something that his father falls for every time, but I didn't say that because my daughter is pretty much continually irritated with the man at the best of times.
And I truly don't remember that particular problem with either her or her sister when they were two. I remember "NO" vividly, from both of them, but not screaming-and-crying jags.
