Monday! And here I am, hastily scribbling. This was not the plan.....
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
We have split up the publishing duties, but we welcome everyone in IAN to do daily diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
Ok, we have a current diary schedule. If you would like to fill in, either post in thread or send FloridaSNMom a Kosmail with the date. If you need someone to fill in, ditto. FSNMom is here on and off through the day usually from around 9:30 or 10 am eastern to around 11 pm eastern.

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.
The original plan for my 100th diary was to publish the first chapter of the book that I am working on writing. Not in IAN, but rather in the general diary section. The book is, of course, on politics. I was also momentarily sidetracked by the thought of writing a humorous book about transitioning from New York to the suburbs. It would have included anecdotes such as the fact that when I see a small, brown, oval thing in the sink or on the floor, it is now a coffee bean and not a cockroach. However, I really don't have enough material for a book on that. I also mused about writing a "perfect murder" book. But I am really not up on current forensics and would have to do a lot of research. I do have MOST of the first chapter of the political book written. I've also pretty much decided that I will submit it for publication under my Twitter pseudonym so as not to annoy my mother.
I have the outline for my book completed. Twenty-two chapters so far. What I NEED is the time to write it. There is simply too much to do, and too little time. I need a house elf or a minion or even a gremlin, if it can sew and do laundry.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were days of mad activity.
This is not a factual (or grammatical) statement
OK, actually i had way too much fun on Twitter, and had to do most of the gardening and actual work today. The childrens' bath still has the hideous pickled oak cabinets, so I have been painting them light blue. I also ended up painting the baseboards, because they were gross, and the icky potty paper holder which resides in a hole in the side of the cabinet. I painted that, too, because it was brass, rusty, and ugly. I managed to restrain myself from painting the picture frames and the icky brass towel holder, which I will replace instead. The faucets are also awful, but I didn't paint them. I also finally got the rest of the stickers off the potty, and washed the silk flowers, which were exceedingly dusty.
Almost done painting! Then I need to start making new cushion covers for the deck furniture. The covers are faded and, in two cases, threadbare on one side. Probably from the cat. The cushions are very large and oddly shaped, and I cannot find new covers or cushions anywhere. The store where I bought the furniture (twelve years ago) closed about five years ago, and of course I took off the tags and have NO idea of the furniture maker.
What projects is everyone working on? I have to plant the garden tomorrow. Kale, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, sugar snap peas, zucchini, and carrots. The asparagus is in its second year, and survived the snow, but is still very skinny.
I also want to paint my dresser silver, one of these days =) must look into silver leaf. That will probably be a giant pain.
