I'm not especially concerned about the 2014 election because of the 2016 election.
Okay -- lots of hand-wringing about how we Democrats are going to lose the Senate in 2014. If we do, we'll only lose a few seats and the Senate will be 51-49 Republican.
But then comes 2016:
-- Between now and 2016, President Obama still has the veto pen and the GOP will not have enough votes to override a single veto. Thus, Obama can defend against the GOP mob.
-- Hillary Clinton at the head of the ticket will wipe out Republicans. Not as bad as LBJ did to Goldwater in 1964, but she'll stomp 'em.
-- Hillary will have strong coattails in 2016 when Democrats are defending only 10 Senate seats while the GOP must defend 23 Senate seats.
-- In eight years, with a strong Democratic Senate, Hillary Clinton can remake the Supreme Court as well as the entire federal judiciary.
2016 has the potential of giving Democrats a stranglehold on the Senate for decades -- and the House, too.
Still, I'm busting my ass to get out the vote in 2014 and you should be, too.
