The leaders of both of the opposing factions in Thailand are under arrest. Pro government and pro monarchy.
The fact that this is a coup has ramifications for the US relations with Thailand.
The party that was in control of the government and has now been ousted has won every election in the past 20 years and been ousted numerous times via coup etc. We'll see what happens.
I doubt there will be any real news of substance. Airport will stay open, they'll make every effort to keep tourists (of various sorts) coming.
