Update: Somebody hacked the page for Operation American Spring III It must have happened within the last hour or so. I checked this page several times a day to see what the crazies were saying so I know it was legit. Not sure how to insert a pix in edit so I'll post a screenshot in the comments.
I started this journey after an ankle injury kept me in bed opening weekend of OAS. That spectacular fail has been well documented so this picks up Monday the 19th. Things were pretty slow as most people went home, including Col. Riley. Originally, it was circulated that Riley's entire week was scheduled in meetings with congress. Since he left on Wednesday, I'm guessing that didn't work out. One of his newsletters said he'd attempted to hand packages to Sens Leahy and Markey which were refused. He didn't say if any congressmen or women had accepted them. He planned to return for the 3-day weekend. He'd have his 10+ million by then (counting the bikers and veterans coming in for actual Memorial Day events).
The best stuff first. The FB page for PFA/OAS Operation Spring is being hilariously trolled by three guinea pigs, Scamper, Whiskers and Nibbles. I don't know which is funnier, the guinea pigs or the people arguing with guinea pigs. If you want to read them, they're in the top right – Recent Posts By Others. Check them out before they're scrubbed. Two screenshots below the orange chemtrail.
The FB posts were predictable but here are a few highlights: Both Riley and another person claimed the Capitol (and park) police had sworn allegiance to them. One person said he'd met with Yoho and "Benevolent" (I think he meant Bentivolio) and they gave him big hugs. Another posted photos of himself meeting a congressman I'm unfamiliar with. Several followers asked if the congressmen had pledged support but none received a response. I'm guessing that's a No. One self-proclaimed "constitutional lawyer" took it upon himself to draw up articles of impeachment which were sent to several congressmen and the copies posted on-line, and, yes, "copies" is correct. He apparently made three (identical) for each recepient and posted all three, end to end, on line. Normally the moderators complained about too many photos wasting space, but there wasn't anything else going on so what the heck. I glanced at it. He and Orley must have been classmates.
There was a lot of Beck bashing, accusations that Obama had blocked their social networking and, of course, cries about the media blackout. Tons of people swore they were spamming Fox News and assorted news channel FB pages but I could find nary a one. A couple of people did finally hear back from their local stations who said they weren't covering it because it wasn't news or there weren't enough people. Their only logical explanation was that Obama was threatening the families of the media moguls, as well as Beck, Hannity and Alex Jones. They have a hash tag for it. #stopthemediablackoutoas. It's not getting any attention either.
The first weekend, there was a lot of talk of groups taking over local tv and radio stations to force coverage. There was a poster (Ahmed) who claimed he was involved with the Egyptian Spring and wanted to assist the American patriots. He was one the guys who kept pushing media takeover because that's the first thing the protesters did in Egypt (his words). Some people loved his ideas, others swore they'd quit the group if the Muslim #&@!* wasn't banned. He insisted he was Coptic but I don't think anyone knew what that meant. Anyway, soon he was gone and talk of taking over local stations died off.
Wednesday Obama strolled the mall and met with tourists. Several outlets reported it with no mention of OAS. Likewise, no mention was made by the patriots in DC. Don't know if it was because it didn't sync with their "Obama's quaking in his boots" message or they'd all gone to Golden Coral. http://www.nbcnews.com/...
On Thursday anticipation began building. A fellow named Ernie called on his fellow patriots not to be disheartened. He knows they will triumph. His "god (sic) would not bring me here to fail." They've prayed for Obama to lose two elections and now this. When they get home this summer, there's going to be some serious head scratching regarding who their god is batting for.
Riley's daily newsletter still insists Rolling Thunder is lending support (despite RT issuing multiple statements to the contrary). An OAS FB post today announced Col. Riley will be in the lead vehicle in the Rolling Thunder event on Sunday but when I click the link to Rolling Thunder's FB page, there is no mention of Col. Riley in that context. The statement was added when OAS shared it. Speaking of Rolling Thunder, boy are the comments heating up. RT keeps bumping their statement that they are not supporting any events other than their own, no matter who claims otherwise. The posters are arguing like mad who's a patriot and who's a traitor. OAS can't understand why RT has turned their back on them after they've talked them up all week. Their supporters are suggesting the RT organizers are not sufficiently intelligent, educated or patriotic to understand the situation.
Well, that should wrap up the week. Other than the bitching, nothing more should happen today. As I suspect they'll provide me with plenty of entertainment over the weekend, I'll do a final update once the bikers leave. Hope all have a safe and happy Memorial Day.
