Daily Kos Radio's Kagro in the Morning show podcasts are now available through iTunes.

It's Friday, so we'll wing it.

But I've got to tell you, I stayed up late checking my GunFAIL stories, after stumbling across one of several current articles citing CDC data on accidental gunshot deaths among kids 14 and under. 2010 is the last year for which data is available, and the CDC's numbers show 62 accidental deaths from firearms for that age group. But having collected so many GunFAIL stories, I felt like that was a lowball figure.

So I spent a late night combing through my stories, and I've found 68 accidental gunshot deaths among kids aged 14 and under, just from January through July, 2013. I haven't even finished looking through the full year yet.

We'll talk about it today, no doubt. But I'm guessing this could become a bit of a story in the weeks to come. And you'll have heard it first here.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:

A blank email is going to do nothing.

The counts are good. Coroner reports.

More to the point is updating both FBI and CDC to differentiate location characteristic for business, residence, and other for the major statistical categories.

We get some of it from FBI.

already went up by $16 since last month.  I'm sure this doesn't have anything to do with the proposed merger.  About a year ago, I negotiated a reduction and it looks like the adjustment was removed.

I am concerned about the implications of the merger though because I currently have a bundle deal that includes Verizon phone and internet and DirecTv.  As you may recall I live in a small town and as a result I have somewhat limited choices.  AT&T isn't currently one of them.  Since Verizon is a direct competitor I don't know if the bundle option will still be available after the merger.  I'm sure even if it is pricing will probably go up.  To make matters worst, Verizon Fios isn't available in my area either because Verizon has only built out their FIOS network into the close in suburbs near Pittsburgh and not to the smaller towns further out.

Thus, my ability to negotiate another rate reduction is more limited than ever.  I wonder if the FCC is considering customers like you and me in deciding whether to approve this merger.  Probably not.
