GOP Abandons Targeting Obamacare: Shifts focus to 2 fake scandals, instead
The Republican Party had planned to attack Democrats on jobs and the Affordable Care Act, but both of those now seem less attractive as weak points for Democrats. Although much of the improvement is based on workers abandoning the workforce, unemployment figures are down. The GOP anticipated far worse figures since they had successfully blocked all attempts to address unemployment more vigorously. Oops. That didn't work.
Then there was Obamacare, the presumed Republican gold mine that has turned into a blue chip for Dems. So, what is the GOP's new plan of attack? BENGHAZI!!!
Actually, Republicans have very little left in the tank, so they can't be too choosy about what they use to fuel campaigns in the November midterms. All there is left for them to exploit are a couple of fictitious scandals. You would think with almost six years of their own obstructionism foiling productive legislation, and six years of intended White House policy to target, they would have more material to work with. Guess not. Maybe if they had come up with some constructive policy of their own…. Nah, that surely wouldn't have worked.
IRS. Benghazi. Wow. With even a few notable Republicans calling the Benghazi hearings a ridiculous political circus, it isn't looking too promising for the Grand old Party in November, now just five months away. They made their own bed. Let them sleep in it. And let this year's midterms forever be known as the Republicans' Benghazi election. I like the sound of that.
Gee, I wonder what this all says about where the GOP stands, and what its objectives actually are these days.
