On Memorial Day weekend when Americans typically grill burgers or hot dogs and celebrate the valor of American servicewomen and men, the radical right-wing Republicans came out swinging with tire irons at veterans organizations who haven’t satisfied their right-wing Republican masters in the Senate and the House.
The right-wingers are angry with the Veteran Affairs Administration and its Secretary, General Eric Shinseki, who first earned the hatred of the radical right for arguing publicly with the Bush Administration about the Iraq War.
Turns out the radical right-wing Republicans are out for Shinseki’s neck. They were disappointed that America’s veteran organizations declined to throw Shinseki under a DC bus on Memorial Weekend. So Rep. Richard Burr of North Carolina blasted all the key veterans organizations for not agreeing with them.
There is hypocrisy in all politics, but when you take a working class look at America’s wars and those who promote them, start them, and defend them, the right-wing neoconservatives have to be the most hypocritical of the hypocritical. Like this Richard Burr never wore a uniform. Bush put on a uniform but couldn’t stay sober enough to keep his Alabama flight status, Cheney took five deferments.
So much pain is being delivered on the workers and average people of the United States by many of the leaders of the United States. It is clear that those who run our Congress and most of our government hate the people of America–that’s you and me.
